Description

Shot blasting is a process in which steel shot is propelled at high velocities toward a concrete, asphalt, or steel surface within a contained unit. This process is used to prepare surfaces for adhesion of epoxy, resin, self-level, and other coating materials.

Applications

Applications of shot blasting include:

  • Surface preparation for maximum adhesion of coatings
  • Runway texturing for airports to increase skid resistance
  • Paint removal – asphalt lines and warehouse concrete paint removal
  • Epoxy removal – preparation for re-application of epoxy or other coatings
  • Rubber removal – re-texturing of runways, racetracks, roadways and other areas subject to rubber marks
