MANY Benefits of Densification
- Abrasion resistance by up to 400% (ASTM C779)
- Dust proofing and reduces adhesion of dirt and eliminates concrete dust
- Hardness testing resulted in 21% increase in impact resistance (ASTM C805)
- Water repellency due to pore lockup (sealed and reduced pore size)
- Increased reflectivity of light (min 30% increase when gloss finish applied)
- Up to 90% reduced maintenance requirements (time, effort, cost)
- Environmentally friendly as floor can be cleaned with warm water
- LEED friendly (existing flooring, increased lighting, lower carbon footprint)
HARDENING
& DENSIFICATION
Concrete Densifying
Concrete densifying and sealing refers to a chemical process that fills pores and hardens the concrete surface. Densifiers are best applied in a “flood type” application to maximize penetration (densifiers applied by roller or mop do not achieve saturation levels sufficient for long lasting durability).
In some applications, the chemical sealing and hardening process is sufficient, but often the chemical process is followed by a mechanical concrete polishing. When the chemical and mechanical process are used together, concrete floors are significantly more durable and easy to clean.
Primary Applications
- Institutional flooring in schools, hospitals, prisons and large government buildings
- Industrial flooring in warehouses and hangars, manufacturing, processing, and energy related plants
- Commercial and retail flooring in airports, malls, restaurants, professional offices, outlet locations, and retail storefronts
